Are they out to friggin annoy me?
Ok Ive been meaning to comment on this for a long time now but somehow always forgot somehwere along the way.... Why is it, whenever I open a medicinal box, be it pills, syrup, capsules or powder, no matter which side I chose, when I open it, the first thing I see is.... the little info slip. You know, the one with all the useless info on it, how to use, what not to feed it to, what would happen if you got one stuck in your ear, that thing. And no matter WHAT, I WILL open the side that has this annoying little slip of suffering ready to grin up at me and say "Aha! Youll have to go through ME to get to th~ Hey! HEY! Put me down! Dont throw me away im important informatioooooo........" Because thats exactly what always happens, I end up mangling the box to rip out the litle sucker and toss it far from the sight of me..... am I alone here?

Mass...err.....i mean Quantum Zeno Effect...
For years, scientists have been scouring the cosmos for some kind of bizarre hypothetical anti-gravity bits they're calling "dark energy". And they've had some success with it ... perhaps at the expense of our mortal souls.
To grossly simplify it, on a scale smaller than atoms, the quantum level, everything suddenly turns into a friggin circus. Quantum physics is to regular everyday physics as a David Lynch film is to a mainstream blockbuster. We're talking particles popping in and out of existence, being in two places at the same time, and generally acting like assholes.
No doubt the strangest part is the Quantum Zeno effect, which points out that simply observing and measuring particles changes them (specifically, changing the rate at which they decay). How? No one knows. It appears to be the closest science has ever come to proving black magic exists.
What Could Possibly Go Wrong?
One prominent scientist theorized that the changes caused by simply observing dark energy could cause it to collapse, taking the universe with it.
Scientists, eager to see if this is true, are furiously observing dark energy whenever they get the chance.
So, Basically It's Like...
It's like crossing the streams in Ghostbusters, apparently.
How Long Have We Got?
That scientist, Professor Lawrence Krauss, thinks it may already be underway. Apparently, in the late 90s, scientists were looking at a bunch of things exploding in space when they caught their first glimpse of some dark energy. This may have put the universe into a state where it may or may not pop like a soap bubble at any given instant. Just because we looked at it. Holy balls.
This ... this can't be right, can it? Surely the guy's just nuts. Then again, he appears to be one of the most prominent physicists in the country and has published a huge list of papers and books on the subject.
Then again, one of them was The Physics of Star Trek and, now that we think about it, we're pretty sure he stole this whole scenario from an episode of The Next Generation. :3

Man Dies from Breathing Own Farts
This one was sent to me by a colligue, had to share xD
A terrible diet and room with no ventilation are being blamed for the death of a man who was killed by his own gas. There was no mark on his body but an autopsy showed large amounts of methane gas in his system. His diet had consisted primarily of beans and cabbage (and a couple of other things). It was just the right combination of foods. It appears that the man died in his sleep from breathing the poisonous cloud that was hanging over his bed. Had he been outside or had his windows been opened, it wouldn't have been fatal, but the man was shut up in his near airtight bedroom. According to the article, "He was a big man with a huge capacity for creating 'this deadly gas.'" Three of the rescuers got sick and one was hospitalized."
Moral of the story is: if yer gonna eat beans, keep the bedroom window open at night.

Taip-ooooooh
Just a short post during work, but this was too good to pass up. A student popped in just now, and in a thick african accent wished me a "Happy Violence Day". Now I know what he MEANT but what the hell? :3 To all my fellow single people out there or if you just think V-day is a waste of time, lets make this our own official "Violence Day" instead! >:D

Bleeeeeep....
So here's a thought: Is society over saturating the young with the facts, laws and norms it has become comfortable with and now wants to push down on as many as possible? Just seems to me like almost everywhere you go, people, particularly young'ns stick to a somewhat sterile, cold, hard, factual [even though most cases the facts in question are simply an oppinion /:3] you know, almost like they're being turned into single minded organic machines no longer thinking for themselves, discovering new things and deducing their own way of thinking around it.
Fill them full of logic,
and bring them to the floor,
and make them dance,
a dance of death.
Fill them full of logic,

I R Important?
Ok.... so Im cruising down the street on my way to work, having worked out my time to such fine detail that I would JUST arrive on time [Yeah i know most of you know what im talking about!] and from behind I see the familiar blinking lights of an ambulance. Now, im thinking to myself "well he seems to be cruising, no siren, so no worries right?" Then just as everyone's settled in all cosy like in front of the red glow if the stop signal, in comes the ambulance wailing and creeping up everyone's @$$ like a friggin' guerrilla limpet. Now, it had been raining and there tends to be accidents in weather like this so I thought ok, someone fell down and went boom, and myself and those around me make space as much as we can for the fine example of humanity to come through. Only, RIGHT after crossing over the intersection, off go the sirens and its cruising again. And not once but twice did this happen, later with a police patrol car. this is not an isolated incident by any means, many a time have I witnessed this lightweight abuse of power. Now I could go off on a tangent like "Whats the world come to?" but what good would it do? Ever read the story about the boy that cried wolf guys? One of these days people are going to get fed up with you abusing your position and simply not heed the siren's call. Youll NOT get through or get hit by a passing car, and who will get blamed? Us, the general public, the ACTUAL responsible driver.
I can haz apocalypse now plz?

Every morning I put it on,
I walk outside and I am gone,
And I don't seem to mind anymore,
I cant think what it was like before,
I wore it all the time.
In the evening I take it off,
But there's another one underneath,
And I cant seem to find,
The bottom of the sack,
I might just lose my mind,
And never get it back,
But at least Ill get inside.
Ever stop and think if you are really you? No Im not tripping on anything in particular at the moment /:3 I mean.... Well each of us has a proverbial bag full of 'masks' we wear in particular occasions.... You are 'this' person at work, but you could be 'that' person among friends. and how many people almost never / never actually are themselves, electing instead to act in a way they think would be more acceptable to the outside world. I dare say there are a few who do this so much and in all aspects of their lives that they lose their actual identity, to burn out in the long run. And yet... there are individuals who simply don't fit into society. Who, in all likelihood, would never be accepted unless they change, conform. Which then would be the greater sacrifice. Remaining yourself and losing the world, or losing yourself to be in the world?

Ex:
Guard1: "Look just come back here and play already, its your turn"
Guard2: "Yeah I just need time to think about my next move alright?"
Guard1: "*sigh* Its easy, look, you just pick up this and this, show this, so you have a pair and then......oh bollocks..."
Guard2: "What? Whats the matter?"
Guard1: "You won....I just won FOR you."
Guard2: "Haha! Pay up Mortimer......what I won?"
~2 Guards playing cards in the gatehouse: Thief - Deadly Shadows
Ex2:
Shale: "I have a question for the qunari, what does it think of humans?"
Sten: "In my homeland we have similar creatures, humans call them monkeys. they are cowardly, annoying creatures that react shrilly when threatened and throw their own feces."
Shale: "That is an EXCELLENT comparison. Does it think they may be related?"
Sten: ".......possibly...."

Come on! Its Jack! And he wants bananas, what more IS there to say? :D Other then the fact that I think I might be having a good day for the first time in quite a long while. Its a feeling I missed. Glad its back. Wish JN was picked to be Wolverine. Of course that would likely only have worked if it was a few years back. :3 But he could probably still do it. #@$%$^ man, hes JACK! >:3

Capn's log Sometime in the night in a dark hole somewhere cool
Ahhhhg.... I finally have the opportunity to get some decent long and late sleep in, rest up, and what happens? Cant sleep. And its been going on for days now. I cant shake the feeling of dread on my shoulders lately. Like something bad is going to happen. No im not talking about SA bludgeoning its reputation with a 2x4 during the soccer championships :p Something....else, something I cant put my finger to. 'They' keep referring to death. Death in the family? Maybe. My cousin is critically ill with blood cancer. They said there is nothing they can do for her anymore. Its a matter of wait for the end now. Heh.... funny somehow isnt it? Its over before its over? Somehow I wonder if thats fair. being able to physically watch someone slip away and theres nothing you can do to stop it, no switch, no mirrors, no cords to pull to end the illusion and show where they are hidden. Life is rather complex, and living it more so. However thats NOT whats haunting me. This is something I know about, whats bothering me is an UNknown... Watched 'The Book of Eli" today. Have to say I was suitably impressed. Wasnt at all what i thought it would be about, I really enjoyed it. On the surface Id say its almost exactly the type of atmosphere you'd get from the Fallout genre, even a few concepts were the same: Lone wanderer in the post civilization wasteland, posessing a particular piece of 'tech' no one else does, heck even the society he was heading to reminds me of the Brotherhood Of Steel, and they live in a place looking much like Rivit City :D And below the surface...... Faith. Hope. the most coveted treasure left in that sad world. The Bible. The word of God. A book so many of us disregard and chuck onto a shelf to gather dust and sit forgotten, unheeded, in that world they tore each other to pieces to get a hold of. Cant help but wonder. Is that what it would take to turn folks in the right direction?

Captain's Log Earth date 31 May 2010
Murphy! You shameless porker! You mock me from beyond the grave!
Typical, Ive been wanting to reactivate the ADSL line in my home for a long time now and finally get my butt in gear enough to DO something about it. So I ask around about a nice [and by nice I mean decent AND affordable, im working on a budget here xD] ISP and found one offering a fast uncapped service for less then I payed for a 3GB cap at Telkom. Woohoo! :D So I sigh up, get the paperwork out of the way, go to the Telkom office, reactivate the line and tell them I wanted to use it for the InTeRwEbZ! A technician comes by the next day or so, tests the line, ok's it and says all's well. I dig out my old router, hook it up but for the life of me I cant get it working. Test everything, but nothing. Eventually a lightbulb goes on in my head. WAS the line actually converted? So I call up and ask them to test it, they tell me I should go in to one of the branches in town. Im thinking WTF.... but off we go. So I get there explain the situation and the operator smiles and with genuine feeling tells me. "Im sorry sir, we dont know WHEN you're line will be made active. You see, because of this nation-wide strike there is no one at head office to press the button."
I cant help but think its funny somehow /:3

Law or lawl?
Lets have a little test shall we? How many would agree with the statements to follow in this posting, Ill add a new one every so often. True or false, and give a reason or example please :D
1) Whenever you try to pick up a single object, it somehow always seems to be snagged on just about everything else in the entire universe!
2) If its worth doing, its worth OVERdoing.
3) the likelihood of getting sick increases to closer you get to a weekend or holiday.
4) An unbreakable toy is useful for breaking OTHER toys.
5) To make the perfect cup of coffee you need to reinvent the universe.
6) The one you want is NEVER the one on sale.
7) the phone will begin to ring inside when you are outside fumbling for the keys to open the front door, and then STOP ringing just as you are about to pick up.
8) In Every organization there is always one person who knows exactly whats going on.....that person will be fired.

Venomous looms and winding mossy ways
Our works in stone, in paint, in print, we spared some for a few decades, or a millennium or two, but everything must finally fall and more, or wear away into the ultimate... universal ash. The triumphs and the failures, the treasures, the fakes the fact of life.....we are going to die. Be of good heart; pry the dead artists out of the living past. Our songs will all be silenced......but what of it.....? Go on singing.

Ready.......FIGHT!
Now is all my reason thrown down... For if I am yet sane, then the world has become a lunatic asylum. Towers of stone and glass pierce the night sky higher then the tallest cathedral spires. Juggernauts of steel hurtling across black ribbon roads of fused cobble, people wandering the streets heedless of the dangers that surround them. Oblivious to their own ends they cry, passing through one another like shadows in the dying light of day. Has the end of all things come and gone? Is this world another's hell?
